Repurposing Your Webinar: Turn 1 Hour into 1 Month of Content
Share
A few months ago, I was editing the recording from a recent live stream and it hit me: I can turn this into a business.
I genuinely love editing the recording—it's my favorite part of the whole process. But it's the exact step that most marketers skip. For too many creators, once the live stream is over, it's out of sight, out of mind.
This is the wrong approach! That recording isn't just an archive; it is a gold mine of content for your website and social media channels.
-
Embed it in a blog post.
-
Put it on YouTube to boost your SEO.
-
Push it out in your email newsletters.
-
Feature snippets on social media.
In short: PUT IT EVERYWHERE.
The Secret Weapon: Your Transcript
The video recording is important, but your timestamped transcript is actually your best friend.
Instead of re-watching the whole video to find good moments, take that transcript, upload it to your favorite AI tool (mine is Gemini), and give it instructions like this:
-
"Outline a highlights video using the timestamps provided."
-
"Write an SEO title and description for the video."
-
"Draft a blog post to pair with this video."
-
"Draft an email newsletter to promote the blog post."
-
"Based on this transcript, give me 5 ideas for spin-off blog posts we can write."
Just like that, you have weeks of written content generated from one conversation.
The AI Video Clipping Trap
Now, for the video clips.
It is tempting to upload your entire 1-hour video to an AI platform like OpusClip and just watch it magically churn out a dozen short-form social videos.
Don't do it.
Uploading a full hour-long video is going to burn through your AI clipping credits so fast it’ll make your head spin. In my experience, these automated platforms will nickel and dime you to death. You can get started for free, but then you have to:
-
Upgrade to remove the watermark.
-
Upgrade to add custom transitions.
-
Upgrade to add your logo.
-
Out of credits? Buy more credits to keep editing.
And the kicker? You will still need to edit the videos. AI isn't perfect. The featured text in the captions will often be a little off, highlighting filler words like "the" instead of the core keywords like "live stream."
The Better Way to Clip
Don't let the AI guess what's important. Go back to that timestamped transcript!
Use the transcript to find a few segments that pack the most punch. Manually cut those specific segments out of your main video first. Then, if you want the automated clips, run those through your AI tool.
You'll save your credits, save your money, and have much tighter, more impactful content to share with your audience.
